Delhi market sees a cut in DTY prices | |
On July 21, the price of DTY (Draw Textured Yarn) grade 75D/72F in Ahmedabad stood at Rs.131 per kilogram. However, by July 22, the price slipped to Rs.128 per kilogram, reflecting a notable drop of Rs. 3 within just one day. This decline has caught the attention of local manufacturers and traders who heavily depend on this particular specification of yarn for a wide range of textile applications. DTY 75D/72F is one of the most commonly used fine-denier polyester yarns in the Indian textile industry. It is especially popular in the production of lightweight fabrics such as women's garments, sarees, dress materials, and soft furnishing fabrics. With 75 denier and 72 filaments, this yarn offers a fine texture, high elasticity, and an excellent finish—making it a preferred choice for both knitting and weaving processes. The recent downward shift in price is largely attributed to weak buying interest in the domestic market, coupled with slightly lower demand from fabric manufacturers. Traders in the Ahmedabad region have reported a slowdown in movement due to seasonal shifts in orders and an increase in yarn availability. Some market observers also point to the ongoing uncertainty in crude oil prices and polyester chip costs, which influence filament yarn pricing indirectly through raw material costs like PTA and MEG.
