Put any face on your boxer

As I watch my children grow and with their families and friends, I often ask myself how to put any face on my boxer. What is it about these gentle and loving creatures that makes people love them so much? What is it about us as people that inspire people to care so much for us? That is the question I ask myself and others on a daily basis.

My husband and I adopted our first dog from a local shelter. It was a very sweet animal who had a history of being hit by cars. He was a little potty trained but required constant attention and patience to make him behave. After many months of putting the work in, we took him home and discovered that our children adored him.

The main reason for that fact is that dogs are very curious animals. They want to know every little thing that is going on around them. They want to see what we are doing and why and they will just be curious enough to explore the room and do their business on you or the couch.

My husband is the pack leader. We had two beautiful children and a loving wife. They wanted to take care of him and if he didn't behave right he would yell and scream but the biggest source of discipline for our boxer was our children.

My daughter is always making sure that the house is clean. Our neighbor's children are always helping us out. Our neighbors have three children and they do not mind making sure that our dog is taken care of. When you see that they have such lovely young children it really helps.

If you think that the owner of the dog will pick up on you saying good behavior, you are wrong. Children will be quiet, ignore the reprimand and let the dog off without taking him out.

Another important reason for the continued good behavior is that the children will never accuse us of hitting the dog or putting him in a bad place. I can tell you from personal experience that we found ourselves yelling at our dog every time he behaved poorly. Children are too innocent to be made responsible for their actions and how the dog behaves.

If you want your boxer to continue to look after and love you and the children, take control of the situation. Just like our children, you can learn to love and care for your boxer.
