Biblically speaking, chaos is not from God, who is a God of peace, not confusion. Instead, chaos is associated with disorder, confusion, and the influence of Satan. However, the Bible also teaches that believers can find God's peace amidst chaos through prayer, faith, and by holding onto the truth that God is sovereign and Christ has overcome the world. Biblical perspective on chaos • God is not the author of chaos: The Bible consistently presents God as the source of peace and order. A key verse is 1 Corinthians 14:33: "For God is not a God of confusion but of peace". • Satan is the source of chaos: Chaos and confusion can be attributed to Satan, who deceives people and brings disunity everywhere; he deceives the whole world (Revelation 12:9). • Chaos can be a consequence of sin: At times, chaos can be the result of sin and disobedience, as seen in some Old Testament examples of judgment. • Chaos is part of life in a fallen world: Jesus acknowledged that his followers would experience tribulation and chaos in a broken world (John 16:33). How to find peace in chaos • Turn to God in prayer: The Bible encourages prayer and bringing requests to God, which promises a peace that surpasses understanding. This involves both petition and thanksgiving. • Find your identity in Christ: Remember who you are in Christ, which is not defined by chaos. This includes remembering that you are called to be a source of love and light to others. • Trust in God's sovereignty: Recognize that God is in control, even when circumstances are chaotic. His peace is available regardless of the situation. • Focus on eternal truth: Remember that this world is temporary and focus on the future, rather than getting consumed by the world's problems. • Build and nurture community: Maintain unity within your Christian community by showing grace and understanding to one another. • Renew your mind: Actively work to change your thinking by internalizing and applying God's word to overcome anxiety and worry.  | |
