Philips Speciality Chemical Ltd., one of India’s leading carbon black manufacturers, has raised the price of its N330 grade by Rs3/kg, from Rs.101/kg on May 21 to Rs.104/kg on May 22. The Delhi market saw this increase clearly, attributed to firm demand and tightening supply. Carbon black N330 is widely used in tyre production, rubber compounds, automotive components, and masterbatch manufacturing. Any disruption in its supply can immediately affect pricing due to its crucial role in the value chain. According to market watchers, this price hike may prompt similar revisions from other producers. Global feedstock cost escalation and logistics challenges in India are adding upward pressure. Traders expect price volatility to persist, particularly with the onset of the monsoon season. A Delhi-based rubber goods manufacturer commented, “We are seeing a steady squeeze on supply. Advance bookings for June are being considered as prices may rise further. Himadri’s move will likely influence other suppliers.” Small processors are especially vulnerable, with thin operating margins and rising input costs.
