On June 19, the material was trading at Rs.113 per kilogram, which increased to Rs.116 per kilogram on June 20, marking a Rs.3/kg rise within a single day. According to market sources, this price hike is driven by increased demand from the tyre and automotive sectors, which are witnessing higher production activity. Additionally, raw material cost fluctuations, particularly the rise in feedstock oil prices, are contributing to the upward trend. Industry insiders also point out that several carbon black manufacturing units are operating at limited capacities due to routine maintenance, impacting supply in the western Indian region. Traders in Ahmedabad indicate that supply tightness combined with firm downstream demand may keep prices elevated in the near term. Moreover, the global carbon black market has also seen price firmness due to rising costs of crude oil derivatives and freight charges.
