Indian LNG import data India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports experienced significant growth in 2024, reflecting the nation's increasing energy demands. The country imported approximately 30,917 million standard cubic meters (mmscm) of LNG during the financial year 2023–24, marking a 17.5% rise from the previous year . This surge was driven by heightened consumption across various sectors, including fertilizers, power generation, and city gas distribution. Notably, the fertilizer sector accounted for 32% of total gas consumption, followed by city gas distribution entities at 19%, and the power sector at 12%. Despite the increase in import volume, India's gas import bill decreased by 22% to $13.3 billion in FY24, down from $17.1 billion in FY23, due to a decline in global LNG prices. Looking ahead, India's LNG imports are projected to continue rising, with expectations of a 4% to 10% increase in 2025, driven by sustained demand and supportive policy measures, Indian LNG import data , Indianpetroplus #IndianLNGimportdata #Indianpetroplus | |
