Mumbai market records high Natural Latex prices | |
The Mumbai rubber market has witnessed a noticeable surge in natural latex H.M.L grade prices, reflecting renewed buying interest and tightening supply conditions On May 17, 2025, prices stood at Rs.113 per kilogram, but by May 19, 2025, they had climbed to Rs.116 per kilogram — registering a Rs.3/kg jump within just 48 hours. Traders report that the spike in prices is largely driven by increased demand from downstream industries, particularly manufacturers of tyres, footwear, and industrial rubber goods. With many factories ramping up production ahead of the monsoon season, procurement activity has intensified, putting upward pressure on raw material prices. Market insiders also attribute this price movement to a temporary supply imbalance. Some producing regions are currently witnessing logistical disruptions due to pre-monsoon rains, which has slowed down the transportation of raw latex to major markets like Mumbai. Additionally, global factors such as fluctuating crude oil prices — which indirectly affect synthetic rubber pricing — have made natural rubber a relatively more attractive option for some manufacturers. This shift in preference is further supporting the price rally in the domestic market. Industry analysts believe that if the current demand trend persists and supply remains constrained, the prices could see further escalation in the coming weeks. However, any major rainfall or improvement in logistics could stabilize the market temporarily. Key Natural Latex Producers: HLL Lifecare Ltd.
