Pray for His will! | |
KJV Bible verses only are used here. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (Notice this is conditional; you must believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God). 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: (We can be sure that God will listen to us whenever we ask for anything in line with His will. Ask for things of the spirit, or wisdom to help you in teaching His Word (see James 1:5 below); God loves that. It’s not all about material things and money). 1 John 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (If we ask according to His will, then we have the confidence to know that He hears us; friend, you can count on it. It means that you will have your prayers answered if it is within God's will. However, it may be something which God does not have planned for your life. Many in the religious realm say that it shows a lack of faith on your part if you end your prayer with, "if it be Thy Will." Friend, it shows a lack of respect for God if you do not make your request "if it be thy Will." If you truly love God, you would not want something that was out of God's will anyway. This is because you love God and you have the confidence to know that what God wanted for you was completely for your good and to your advantage. If it was something that would harm you or hinder your ability to serve God, why would you want it anyhow? To say, "Well claim it anyway?" is blasphemy against God. Those that teach such do not love God, but think He is a some kind of cosmic genie who will grant you your wishes if you demand them). It is God’s will that you continually give thanks and pray without ceasing: 1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice evermore. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. (“In faith” according to God’s will). James 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. Psalm 145:18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. (You can’t con God; He knows what you need to do His will). Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Very simple; God’s Holy Spirit makes intercession for us according to the will of God; not my will or your will). | |
