BOPP Transparent Film prices decline in Mumbai market | |
The price of BOPP (Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene) Transparent Film, 25-micron grade, has recorded a drop in the Mumbai packaging film market. On June 21, the film was trading at Rs.143/kg. By June 23, it slipped to Rs.140/kg—marking a decline of Rs.3/kg over two days. Industry sources attribute the price reduction to sluggish demand from flexible packaging converters and FMCG packaging units, coupled with improved supply conditions in the domestic market. Converters are reportedly adopting a wait-and-watch approach amid fluctuating raw material trends and uncertainty in procurement cycles. In addition, falling polypropylene resin prices—particularly homopolymer grades used in BOPP production—have put further downward pressure on film rates. Rising competition from regional suppliers and imported BOPP films, especially from Southeast Asia, has also impacted local pricing strategies. Export orders have remained moderate, offering little support to the domestic price trend. Market participants suggest that inventory levels remain high across distributors and processors, limiting buying momentum. Indian Producers:- Jindal Poly Films Ltd.
