2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (I believe a thousand years means a thousand years, Earth years not Mars years; a Lord's day. It appears that His way of measuring time is different than our way of measuring time. It is written to be understood by all; see 2 Corinthians 11:3). We know how long our day/year is here on Earth. One revolution of our earth equals 24 hours/1 day. One orbit around our sun equals one earth year. But, how much do we humans actually know about time, ours or His and how they relate to each other? Will time influence us the same in heaven as it does now on this earth? God is eternal. So, is there time in heaven? Were the creation days man's days or Lord's days? I choose to believe each day of creation in Genesis was equivalent to at least a 1,000 years in man's time, or put another way, a really long time; each was a Lord's day. Food for thought: Man didn't exist till the sixth day. Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Again, a thousand years of man's time is used to compare that long time to a day with the Lord in His time). Revelation 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. (See Revelation 20:2, 3, and 7 also). Millennium: a period of a thousand years, especially when calculated from the traditional date of the birth of Christ. You and I live in a three-dimensional world. Does anyone truly comprehend the concept of limitless time or a fourth dimension? Probably not. Do any of us understand such terms as everything, all, forever, eternal, everlasting, nothing, or infinity? We speak of [up] when we should say [out], or [away]. We say [down], when we should say [within]. We say the sun sets, instead of the earth rotates. Our eyesight is limited to a very specific spectrum of electromagnetic radiation [visible light], as your ears are only capable of picking up a certain limited range of frequencies. Our reach is limited. Our life span is limited. Our power, strength and perspective are limited. To suppose then that you can truly and completely comprehend spiritual things with a human, carnal, very limited mind would be presumptuous at best. We must depend upon God to reveal knowledge for the answers to ultimate questions like the origin of matter, of laws, and of life. Where is that knowledge revealed? In His creation and His word. I do not know for sure how long the days of creation were; I was not there. I can only share with you what scripture points me to. I choose to believe 2 Peter 3:8. Keep studying regardless of what you believe. God commands us to study, see 2 Timothy 2:15.
